American Military Executes Deadly Strike in Pacific, Resulting in 4 Deaths

As stated by a senior military official, the American military carried out a lethal strike on a vessel in the eastern Pacific, resulting in the deaths of four people.

“A US joint task force carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a craft operated by a terrorist group in international waters. Surveillance verified the vessel was transiting along a known narco-trafficking route and was involved in illicit drug transport. All four male narco-terrorists were eliminated, and no American forces were injured.”

Background and Recent Strikes

The statement comes a day after an announcement regarding a naval blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers to and from Venezuela. That statement on social media, the American leader accused Venezuela of using oil profits to fund narcotics smuggling and criminal activities, pledging to escalate the military presence.

Only on Tuesday, US defense officials stated it had carried out strikes on three boats it accused of smuggling narcotics in the Pacific, leading to the deaths of eight people. Since 2 September, more than 20 strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 99 people, most off the coast of Venezuela.

Administration Defends Tactics Amid Scrutiny

The administration has encountered growing pressure to make public video of a September 2nd vessel attack. However, the defense secretary have refused to do so. The administration has defended its campaign as a success, arguing it has prevented drugs from entering US shores and has pushed back on concerns that it is stretching the limits of lawful warfare.

Although the administration has said the campaign is about stopping drugs destined for the US, remarks from a top official appeared to confirm a wider geopolitical objective. In a recent interview, the senior advisor remarked the president “wants to keep on blowing boats up until the Venezuelan president cries uncle.”

This suggests the series of strikes may be part of a strategy to oust Venezuela's current government.
