Arteta Applauds a More Dependable Squad and Confirms Havertz Injury Blow.

The Gunners' boss remains confident that his side can continue to cope with injury setbacks following disclosing that forward Kai Havertz is not ready for several more weeks.

Extended Absence for Havertz

Havertz has been out for months due to knee surgery. Originally slated to return sooner, the manager stated the player hit a snag when advancing his recovery and was unable to move forward “the next phase.”

“We took lessons, and managed to assemble a team that is much more reliable and has increased versatility,” commented Arteta.

Tactical Decisions for Midweek Fixture

This update presents a dilemma for the midweek home game against Brentford. Arteta must choose between persisting with Mikel Merino, who scored in an unfamiliar forward role last weekend, or reinstating Viktor Gyökeres, who came back from a muscle injury in the latter stages. Veteran striker Gabriel Jesus is in contention following a lengthy absence.

Defensive Concerns Remain

More doubts affect defender William Saliba and attacker Leandro Trossard, who sat out the weekend encounter. As a result, new recruits Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié will probably continue in the heart of the defence for the league leaders.

Questioned if increased squad depth was benefiting their league challenge, the manager agreed. “Yes, as this campaign has presented greater challenges in the attacking line, and now the problems with the backline,” he added.

“Our previous experiences taught us that we must deploy players in various roles, and they must be capable to fulfil different roles if we want to compete at this level. And the case of Mikel is probably the prime illustration.”

Arteta's Support for Frustrated Havertz

Addressing the delay previously mentioned by Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta provided further detail. “His recovery was progressing. He failed to advance to the subsequent stage and now it’s looking like we have solved that issue.”

He shared his keenness to welcome him back. “We’re all desperate to have him. Honestly, Havertz is someone that, personally, I admire greatly for what he brings to the team, but his personality, his nature. I watch him struggle while sidelined.”
