Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for concerns to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, representing the club's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell such as this with performances like these.”

He stated, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to where it needs to be, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
